Walk Through History With Israel at 70 Mission

Imagine walking in the footsteps of the millions of Jews who came before you. Now imagine doing it with 800 members of your Miami community. Join the Greater Miami Jewish Federation on the Israel at 70 Mission, April 16-22, 2018, to make this vision a reality. The transformative power of such a trip simply cannot be overlooked. Mission Chair and past Federation Board Chair Barbara Black Goldfarb considers it a “lifetime experience that will resonate forever.”

From the opening street festival in Old Jaffa and your very own Miami Loves Israel parade to a magical evening at the Sultan’s Pool and festive Shabbat dinner, the Mission will provide a wide range of emotional experiences. The itinerary not only includes visits to some of the country’s most impressive sites, but also includes numerous track options guaranteed to fit everyone’s taste. Plus, a special focus on affinity groups with thoughtfully organized buses and tours will allow participants to enjoy the best of Israel in a small group experience with customized tracks and agendas — a necessity for what Mission Vice Chair Paul Kruss calls “the strongest, most diverse and Zionistic community in the Diaspora.”

The entire Mission will come together when it counts — for five Mega events, Shabbat, and important ceremonies on Yom Ha'Zikaron (Memorial Day) and Yom Ha'Atzmaut (Independence Day) — fostering unity and camaraderie among participants. Mission Vice Chair Lily Serviansky said, “Being in Israel together will create enormous energy and excitement that can only be achieved in a large group. Every trip to Israel is special, some are memorable, but this will be both.” In fact, Israel at 70 will be one of the largest Greater Miami Jewish Federation Missions. More than 20 buses will cross the country as our Miami community spends four nights in Jerusalem and two nights in Tel Aviv.

Accompanied by knowledgeable and inspiring rabbis, educators and guides, each tour will include valuable historic insights that will make the experience come alive, bringing even more meaning to each site. Participants will also get to see Federation-funded programs that help some of the most vulnerable in Israel and are making a tremendous impact on Israeli communities.
